What do you notice about your skin that makes you think 'I need a new skincare product'? Is it actually that you notice other people's skincare products and then start to wonder? We're fascinated by how skincarers think about their skin - and hand-in-hand with that, shopping for skincare. It's why you'll often hear us talking about listening to what your skin is telling you.

Why is this? Well, believe it or not, our skin is the largest organ of our body, and plays a really important role in the overall healthy functioning of our body. Not only does it prevent diseases, by blocking harmful microbes from getting in, but it also keeps us hydrated by controlling water loss through the skin. It stretches when we move, heals when it’s damaged and gets rid of excess waste products continuously through sweat and sebum - quite phenomenal, really!

When we’re out of balance, our skin might be the first place we see this, which is why it is so important that we listen to what our skin is telling us. Feeling super oily? Let’s add some hydration to the skin to balance sebum production. More breakouts than usual? Perhaps your routine is too rich or your skin has had too much exfoliation.

It can sometimes be difficult to understand what is causing our skin to behave in a certain way. For example, is the sudden cluster of breakouts down to an increase in oil production, or is it down to recent over-exfoliation? Based on the answer, the best products to use will differ, which is why we always recommend connecting with a licensed professional, such as a Renude aesthetician. This saves time and money, ultimately by removing the guesswork that we know is so common when it comes to shopping for skincare.

Each of our aestheticians at Renude has over 10 years of skin clinic experience, working on a product and treatment level to deliver results skincarers are looking for. We established Renude with aestheticians as we rate their know-how when it comes not just to skin-health, but to skincare products (without prescription). They’re as obsessed by ingredients labels and formulation innovations as I am (and that’s coming from a trained formulation chemist! ). Through our skin consultation process, your aesthetician will learn about your current skin status and decide which ingredients would be best for you. They will then create a routine designed specifically for your needs - and budget. All this from the comfort of your home, or wherever you are!

There are plenty of other factors beyond our skincare that feed into our skin health - hormones, diet, sleep hygiene and stress being just some of these. We recommend keeping a skin diary to track these elements to help understand any patterns that link to your skin.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the number of skincare products out there, or just can’t figure out what your skin needs, we’re here to help. Complete your complimentary skin consultation with one of our licensed aestheticians to start your Renude skin journey today.
