Renude expert Sarah talking career highlights and skincare advice
Health and wellbeing has been an integral part of my career. It was a very natural progression from being a massage therapist and seeing the benefits this had on the skin. Facial massage soon became a great passion and played a very important part of my facial therapies. Over time my facials developed to combine electrical devices and therefore my skincare choices had to work in synergy with the techniques and ultimately influence the overall result. In the last 10 years I have gained a more in depth understanding of clinical brands and I still continue to learn, in this rapidly growing industry.
The beauty industry is all I have known since I was 16. My career has taken me to many beautiful five star destinations and I have had the great privilege to work with and learn from many incredible practitioners, who have helped to shape the career I have. I have worn many hats from therapist, trainer and manager and I still continue to ensure service is at the forefront of everything I do.
I’ve had many career highlights, from the people I have worked with to the clients I have treated. So many special moments that I will cherish. Launching the beauty rooms at Fortnum & Mason on their tercentenary year would definitely be a career highlight. We introduced a secret haven of luxurious beauty rooms led by an elite team to deliver bespoke face & body treatments. Part of my role was to help seek the very best skincare from prestigious spa and clinical brands, renowned for their excellent skin benefits.
Skincare plays an integral part of the service we offer as industry professionals. I have worked with many brands over the years and it's amazing to see how skincare has advanced and evolved in this time. The options we have available to suit all individuals, treat a variety of skin types and conditions. To see the results you can achieve by skincare alone is very rewarding. This not only builds a strong rapport with clients but brings confidence and inner wellbeing to many. One thing I have learnt is what works for one is not always right for another.
Before I had children I had porcelain skin. Well this changed after children, as much as I love my babies they did not bring me good skin! One thing I’ve learnt is to keep my regime simple but effective. I’m more dehydrated and sensitive these days and can break out overnight if something doesn’t suit. I use gentle pha acids to keep skin smooth and hydrated, hyaluronic acid and ceramides to help reduce redness and keep skin comfortable. I like stripped back moisturisers with Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Separate SPF with antioxidants for added skin protection.
Renude allows me to be part of a very exciting new concept. I work with an incredible team of experts who have great passion, knowledge and understanding of skin health and skincare. We provide a safe unbiased platform for all individuals to gain access to a variety of ingredients and guidance to those who need advice and support to gain healthy skin and treat specific conditions.
I speak with so many people who are using too much skincare and mixing ingredients without a true understanding of their skin benefits. The best bit of advice I can give is always keep it simple but effective. Don't over complicate regimes and just because it's right for your friend it doesn't always make it right for you! Protect with SPF in summer and winter months! If sudden breakouts occur don’t feed with more products, pull back and simplify the routine.
